Today & Tomorrow *Matt. 6:20-34

Live in the day. Don’t worry about tomorrow. Focus on what you are doing now – today. Think about tomorrow, tomorrow. What do you need to do today – do it; and do not push it to tomorrow?
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Serve *Matt. 6:20-21

Can’t serve both money and God. One will dominate over the other. Chose this day whom you will serve. Earthly riches will pass away, but heavenly riches are eternal which money cannot buy.
20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Our Father *Matt. 6:5-13

5 “And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. 7 And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.
8 “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. 9 In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Focused *Matt. 5:17-19

Have we lost the teachings of Jesus? Are we so focused on Grace that we by pass what Jesus said? What He taught? This is crucial because He taught and showed us the way to heaven. And not only that, He showed us the way we can have peace on earth no matter what is going on around us. If we follow/obey Him we will be blessed. He is the only way, the truth, and the life.
17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Repent *Matt. 4:17

17 From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.”
When I hear repent I think of John the Baptist. However, from the beginning to the end of Jesus’ life he also preached repentance. He preached the Good News, did miraculous healings of all sorts and became widely known.
Repent means to turn away from sin and do it no longer.

Dreams *Matt. 1:20-2:22

Dreams are important. When you honor God with your life, God honors you. He will intervene in your life to guide you. All we have to do is listen and follow Him.
Mary was blessed, but so was Joseph because God was speaking to him directing their family to safety. God spoke to Joseph several times through dreams:
1: 20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.
2: 12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they (the Magi) returned to their country by another route.
2:13 When they had gone, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Get up,” he said, “take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him.”
2: 19 After Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt 20 and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who were trying to take the child’s life are dead.”

Fulfilled *Matt. 1:18-25

1.Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit
2.Jesus saves people from sin.
3.Prophets foretold now fulfilled.
4.God’s promises happening now.
The birth of Jesus is miraculous. God sent His one and only Son to earth, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. This is a free gift from God.
*Emmanuel means God with us = Jesus. Jesus is not just King of the Jews, but of the Gentiles too. The Scriptures (Bible) gives the answers. For out of the Old Testament the New Testament is revealed. Can’t have one without the other because it is one Book.

Anyone *Matt. 11:28-30

Good word to meditate on today. Need rest? Need direction? Here is the solution:
Matthew 11: 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”;NIV
Today’s devotional needs no commentary or explanation. The words of Jesus are simple to understand. If by chance it is not crystal clear, all you have to do is seek the Lord and ask Him for clarification and understanding.
Mark 8:34 When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. 35 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. 36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? 37 Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? 38 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”;NIV

Here It is *Matt. 11:27-30

Matthew 11:27-30;NIV
God’s will – here it is. God has willed everything to Jesus. If we go to Him He will: reveal the Father and give rest to the weary and the burdened. If you learn from Jesus He will be gentle and humble with you and give rest to your soul.
Try meditating on what Jesus said, “My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” To be yoked with Jesus is to be linked to Him; to be right next to Him. Whichever way He goes you will follow and go the same way. He is right by your side and does not go anywhere without you. If God is for us – who can be against us!
Burden – a burden is not what we want. A burden hurts, is painful, a very heavy load to carry. Jesus said if we are with Him He will help carry the load making the pain, hurt, unbearable stress, and/or over whelming situation more than just manageable. He will carry it with us; removing the pressure and weight off of our backs and shoulders. With God all things are possible.

Power *Matt. 11

Matthew 11;NIV
There is power in the name of Jesus. He is the only One who has the power to do miracles:
Makes the blind see.
Lame to walk.
Leprosy cured.
Deaf hear.
Dead raised to life.
Salvation to poor.
Is the only way into the Kingdom of Heaven.
Praise be to His holy Name. Thank you Lord Jesus for the power in Your most Holy Name. Teach us how to use Your holy, powerful Name in order to bring glory to God Most High. Thank you for all You do. Blessed be Your Name.
