Samson *Judges 13

Judges 13
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Judges+13&version=NKJV;NIV
~~~
I found it interesting that the angel of the Lord appeared to the sterile wife and told her she’d become pregnant and have a son (Samson). When she told her husband, he immediately 8 prayed to the LORD: “Pardon your servant, Lord. I beg you to let the man of God you sent to us come again to teach us how to bring up the boy who is to be born.”9 God heard Manoah (husband) , and the angel of God came again to the woman while she was out in the field; but her husband Manoah was not with her. 10 The woman hurried to tell her husband, “He’s here! The man who appeared to me the other day!”
~~~
I found this so interesting because the angel of the Lord spoke to the woman. She told her husband and he believed her. He immediately prayed an earnest prayer to the Lord. The Lord heard his humble prayer right away, but came to the wife again and not her husband. This tells me that God truly hears our prayers and does answer us, however it is not always in the way we would expect or even want. The husband wanted an answer to his prayer. He wanted to get the answer himself. But God in His kindness let the man know He heard his prayer.
~~~
When it seems as though God is not listening to our prayers or answering them – how do we really know? We jump to conclusions and think that God is not listening, He doesn’t care, or He’s not answering, but how do we really know? The point here is that God does hear our prayers and He does answer them. Although, sometimes it may seem like God doesn’t hear or at times He’s not answering, but we can’t put God in a box. His ways and reasons are so far beyond comprehension. God answers with a yes, no, or wait. So when we pray and think God did not hear us or God doesn’t care, we are wrong. God does care. God does care very much about our lives. We are the ones who have to be willing to accept God’s answer in the way that He presents it.
~~~
So when you think your prayers are not being heard or answered stop, and think again. The problem is never with God; the problem is on our side.
~~~
Lord, I pray that you would show each one of us that You truly do hear what we say to You. And that You are well aware of the situation at hand. Open up our understanding to see that You care deeply for each one of us and that You are the One who takes delight when we come to You any time of day or night to talk to You because You are God. And You are the true and only source of help in time of need. We praise and thank You God for all that You do. In Jesus Name.
Arrogance *Judges 12:1-7
Judges 12:1-7
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Judges+12%3A1-7&version=NKJV;NIV
~~~
Again, resentment, envy, jealousy, but now there is also arrogance. Fighting with brothers (and/ or sisters) is needless. Because this clan (Ephraim) did not get the fame, honor, victory they desired, (which their brother received) they wanted to do them harm. Their words were foolish and disgustingly arrogant. Even when their brother tried to defuse the situation by speaking truth and reason, Ephraim wouldn’t hear it. In their foolishness, paying no attention to what was right, they ended up paying a very high price – the loss of many lives. A waste of time. A waste of life.

Pride cometh before a fall
~~~
Lord God, keep us from being a foolish, prideful, arrogant people. Show us Your way and help us to walk in it. May we be Your people who try to defuse a harmful situation instead of fueling it. Show us the err of our way and lead us in the way everlasting.
Jealousy *Judges 8
Judges 8
~~~
Resentment, jealousy, and envy provoke a fight. A wise person does not boast of his accomplishments. He can ward off any accusations by acknowledging something positive that his accuser has done. This can appease the accuser, which prevents any further trouble.
~~~
What it really boils down to is pride. Resentment, jealousy, and envy are all fruit of pride. Pride is ugly. Unfortunately, pride is powerful and can spring up anytime and anyplace without warning. Therefore, we all need to be on guard against this unrelenting sin called pride.
~~~
King David wrote in Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
~~~
Lord, expose those areas in our lives that we have given way to pride. Search our hearts, lead us into repentance, forgive us, clean our hearts, and renew a right spirit within us. Give us wisdom to deal with anyone who comes against us in any form of pride that we would be able to ward off any attack by the accuser. Thank you God for Your Word of life. In Jesus Name. Amen.
God Gets Glory *Judges 7
Judges 7
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Judges+7&version=NKJV;NIV
~~~
God gets the glory for deliverance. Gideon went from an army of 32, 000 men to a group of 300 men, while the enemy’s army was “settled in the valley, as thick as locust. Their camels could no more be counted than the sand on the seashore.” However, with God all things are possible because in the enemy’s camp 15,000 men out of 135,000 were left “a hundred and twenty thousand swordsmen had fallen.” Only the Lord God can do this. What are the odds of God’s people winning? But, with the God of Israel all things are possible.
~~~
Lord God, when our situations look overwhelmingly impossible come and lead us into victory. Help us not to worry, but to keep our eyes on You. Give us the plan so we can be triumphant and You get all the glory. In Jesus Name.
Marvelous Things *Judges 6
Judges 6
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Judges+6&version=NKJV;NIV
~~~
Before God does a mighty act for His people all idols have to be destroyed. Once the idols are destroyed then an altar is made to the Lord God. When idols are gone and God is honored that’s when marvelous things happen.
~~~
It is good to take inventory of one’s life to see what takes precedence. Where is most of your time spent? Where and on what is your money spent? Where does God fit into your life? Is God first or does something else take precedence over God’s Word? Questions to think about; questions to ponder, and if need be repent.
~~~
The people were experiencing oppression and hardship because they had turned away from the Lord God and if that wasn’t bad enough, they were also worshiping idols.

To Test *Judges 2:20-23

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Judges+2%3A20-23&version=NKJV;NIV
~~~
God allows situations to happen to see if we will follow Him or go our own way, because we have been disobedient. God uses what is already there to test His people’s faithfulness in times of hardship or trouble.
~~~
Let us not grow weary, but be steadfast and hold tight to His Word by putting it into practice.

Future Generations *Judges 2:10

Judges 2:10
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Judges+2%3A10&version=NKJV;NIV
~~~
This should not have been done. However, we cannot point fingers or lay blame for we do the same. Look at the upcoming generations – it’s all about me; what I want and don’t want; stuff, selfies, etc. We have not taught the younger generations about God. We have gone our own way, sought after what pleases me and not what pleases God. We have not put God first in our lives, and we have not told our children to put God first in their lives. We have failed to keep the feasts and celebrations God commanded His people to keep forever; as a lasting ordinance. We have not told the next generation about what God has done for us in the past. How can they remember if there were not told? We have not made God top priority, so why would they!
~~~
It is sad, very sad. The older generation is responsible to teach and reflect on the great and awesome deeds the Lord God has done. Is your country a mess because the leaders have turned away from God?
~~~
There is still hope. We can repent; change our actions and put God first in our lives and tell other generations of the righteous acts of God. Most don’t even know God, or who He is, so this is a great starting point. We only get to live one life on earth. Let’s make it count for something that can reap eternal blessings.
~~~
Lord God show us where we fall short of remembrance of the great and mighty things You have done. Give us boldness to proclaim who You are, and Your Word to future generations that they might know, and see, and put their trust in You, Lord God. Revive us – sent revival. In Jesus Name.
