Commit *2 Kings 17:35-39

35 When the LORD made a covenant with the Israelites, He commanded them: “Do not worship any other gods or bow down to them, serve them or sacrifice to them. 36 But the LORD, who brought you up out of Egypt with mighty power and outstretched arm, is the One you must worship. To Him you shall bow down and to Him offer sacrifices. 37 You must always be careful to keep the decrees and regulations, the laws and commands He wrote for you. Do not worship other gods. 38 Do not forget the covenant I have made with you, and do not worship other gods. 39 Rather, worship the LORD your God; it is He who will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies.”

I love this because this ancient promise is still valid today. It needs no explanation. Great verses to meditate on.

Mercy * 2 Kings 14:26-27

26 The LORD had seen how bitterly everyone in Israel, whether slave or free, was suffering; there was no one to help them. 27 And since the LORD had not said he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven, he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam son of Jehoash.
~~~
God is well aware of what is happening. He will raise up help.
Time after time, decade after decade, king after king His people did evil in the sight of the Lord God. So much so, non relenting, that it provoked God to anger. God is so patient with His people. The greatest evil is to turn your back on God Almighty, walk away from Him, and/or worship idols and gods. Yahweh is the One true God. He alone is to be worshiped and praised.
~~~
God cannot be blamed for severe suffering or any kind of suffering for that matter. The people chose to walk away from God’s blessings. If a person, people, or nation walks away from God that means His protective hand is no longer covering them. They have also walked away from God’s provisions and blessings not only in their lives, but forfeit  His blessing the land to be fruitful as well. But God always keeps His promises. His love never fails! God had mercy and compassion on His people, and after a time He brought them relief because He had compassion on them.
~~~
The God I serve is ever so merciful – He doesn’t give us the punishment we deserve.
He is so gracious – He gives us blessings, which we do not deserve. What a gracious, merciful, compassionate, faithful God. Come let us go before Him and repent of our sins and ask for His forgiveness. Praise be to His Name for He washes sins away and remembers them no more. In the Name of Jesus Messiah I pray.
An Ounce *2 Kings 6:20-23
An ounce of kindness is worth more than a pound of cure. An ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of labor. An ounce of kindness is worth more than a pound of gold.
There are so many great lessons in this passage for us My recommendation to you is that you read 2 Kings 6:8-23 and read for yourself. Meditate on this passage and see what the Lord reveals to you.
This is the third of three messages that can be gleaned from this passage of Scripture.
But God….so…. *2 Kings 6:8-23
I love this story because there were so many miracles that took place. God’s way is definitely not man’s ways. God’s thoughts and way is so much higher than ours.
~~~
The enemy planned attacks,
but God thwarted them,
so His people were safe.
~~~
A man was fearful of a deadly situation,
but God answered his friend’s prayer,
so the man no longer was afraid.
~~~
The enemy was hot in pursuit,
but God led the army away,
so no harm came.
~~~
The question was posed, “Should I kill them (warriors)?”
but God said, “No. Give them food and drink.”
so the people gave their enemy a feast.
~~~
Death and destruction could have taken place,
but God turned it in to a joyful feast,
so peace enveloped the land.

One Man *2 Kings 6:8-23

One life, one man, one woman, or one child can definitely make a difference in the lives of many other people, which can change the course of what would normally happen.
~~~
The enemy was out to harm the people of God, but God intervened and not one person died. In fact, the enemy was trapped and could have been destroyed, but God wanted not to harm them. Instead, God’s people “ prepared a great feast for them; and after they ate and drank, he sent them away and they went to their master (Leader). So the bands of Syrian raiders came no more into the land of Israel.” (vs.23)
One act of kindness led to another, which brought peace to the land.
~~~
The words of Yahweh are the same in the Old Testament as they are in the New Testament. Jesus said to do good to those who persecute you and bless them. There is great power in following the Word of the Lord. As a result, in this situation, instead of warring there was peace. God’s Word is powerful.
~~~
Even though this is contrary to what we think we should do, God’s ways are so much higher than ours and so much better. God wants us to follow His Word for our own benefit. It does us good to follow and obey the Word of the Lord.
Expectations * 2 Kings 5:1-16
God’s way is so much higher than our ways. We often limit God by our perspectives. Just because God did something one way does not mean He will do it that same way again.
~~~
Naaman took a step of faith in trusting that this Hebrew prophet of God, Elisha, would come out to meet him, call on the Name of his God, wave his hand over the spot, and cure him of leprosy. However, Naaman’s expectations were dashed when this did not take place. Elisha sent a servant out to meet him to tell him to wash seven times in the Jordan River and then Naaman’s flesh will be cleansed.
~~~
Receiving from God takes a step of faith. We have to let go of our expectations of how we think things should happen and step out in faith to receive God’s blessing.
~~~
Naaman almost lost out on being healed because of his expectations of how he thought God would heal him. Let us not be like that; let us be open to God’s way even if it sounds foreign, irregular, or even ridiculous. If it wasn’t for someone telling Naaman (why not do it because he had nothing to lose) he would have left an angry leprous man.

*watch out for expectation
*listen to good advice

Leftovers *2 Kings 4:42-44

2 Kings 4:42-44

~~~
Share what you have. God will provide and you will have leftovers.
~~~
When life seems to kick you in the face and there is little to no hope left. Step out and take a risk. The lepers did this and were blessed beyond their comprehension – so much so that they could not contain it all and had to share the abundant wealth with their community. By sharing the wealth they stumbled upon, they were doubly blessed. Not only was their faith and hope for living revived, but the faith and hope of the whole community was revived as well. Restoration came to the whole community because of a few men who shared their bountiful findings.
~~~
Lord, help us to step out and bless others with our provisions. In doing so Lord, You not only bless us, but You bless others as well.
