New Word for New Year

Fear Not  Joshua 1:1-9
Joshua needed to know two things:

1. God was with him
2. God would never leave him nor forsake him
*Because God was with Joshua and would never leave him nor forsake him, Joshua was commanded not to fear nor be dismayed, but to be strong and courageous, and obey God’s law.
*there is no need for fear because God promised Joshua that He would be with him always everywhere he would go.
Note: Don’t forget that Joshua had just now entered in to a new land – The Promised Land. It was a totally new experience; unfamiliar territory with lots of enemies lurking about who were much, much stronger and larger than God’s people. And God put Joshua in charge of and leading a rebellious people. Not an easy task!!!
*So if God is telling Joshua not to fear nor be discouraged and to be strong & courageous than Joshua is going to come up against people and situations that would try to make him fearful, discouraged, make him feel like God was not with him. Because of the circumstance, Joshua would not feel strong nor courageous nor successful.
*When we have situations in our lives we need not fear nor be discouraged because God is with us. He promised us He would never leave us nor forsake us. We just need to believe Him when He promises us He will be with us leading, guiding, and protecting us all along the way.
*I use to think with God I would have no troubles, problems, but that’s not God’s promise. God promises to be with me always and He will go before me and see me safely through whatever the trouble, whatever the trial, whatever the situation. This builds my trust and faith in Him. This makes me realize I can, in fact, trust Him because He is doing what He promised me. I won’t like the situation, but God will get me through it. And in the long run, I am better off because of it.
*I will have troubles, but out of them all the Lord will deliver me from them. He watches over my bones.
Psalm 34:
17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them;He delivers them from all their troubles.
18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. 19 The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all; 20 he protects all his bones,
Deuteronomy 31:8
The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
Proverbs 3:3
Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.
Hebrews 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
*Lord, keep us from losing our focus on You. Strengthen and encourage us to stand firm in Your wonderful, glorious promises; that You are with us, protecting us, and that You are true to Your Word. And that You truly want what is best for us, because You love us and care deeply about each one of us. Help us to grow into a deeper knowledge of who You are and may we grow in our relationship with You; fully trusting You with no doubts nor reservations; being fully committed to You. In Jesus Name. Amen

Authority *1 Tim. 2:1-6

2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time.
Lord, I pray that all those in authority and in Your church may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. May they all be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth.
Pray for those who are in authority over you – that they may be saved.
