Heb. 13:20-21

Shanah Tovah! (Happy New Year!)
May the blessings of our gracious Lord be upon you and yours this first day of the New Year.
20 Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, 21 equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.  (Heb. 13:20-21)

I took a look
I saw the Crook
he had a big hook.
I was not surprised
though it was disguised
I had surmised.
Along with the lies
there would be cries
where that hook flies.
We need to be alert
and constantly exert
because he does flirt.
We need to be aware
to avoid feeling despair
his hooks are everywhere.
He thinks he’s nifty
making us guilty
when taking our liberty
So we need to carefully look
in places where that hook
was placed by that nasty Crook.

Yes or No *James 5:12

12 Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple “Yes” or “No.” Otherwise you will be condemned.
Lord, show us where we are indecisive and where we compromise the truth. Give us the strength and courage to stand firm in Your truth. Help us to make good decisions and wise choices, so that we can stand firm in our yes or no.

Patience *James 5:7-11

7 Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. 8 You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord’s coming is near. 9 Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!
10 Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. 11 As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
Lord, Your timing is perfect. You are neither early nor late, but right on time. Help us to wait with patience and not grumble or complain when we don’t get what we want when we want it. Fill us with Your peace and faith. Help us to endure whatever trials and tribulations that may arise with a good attitude; fully trusting in You. Lead us to that place where we can rest in Your perfect compassion and mercy. In Jesus Name, amen.
