No Warning *Job 1

Devastation was so great that it is hard to comprehend. This righteous man, Job, was living his life “as usual” when out of nowhere he gets report after report of disaster happening to him. If that’s not bad enough, the last report was that his 10 children, whom he dearly loved, all died at once – no warning, just perished. How much pain and trauma can one person take all at the same time!?

What was the first thing Job did when he heard all this?
20 At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship 21 and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the Name of the LORD be praised.” 22 In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong.

This is a great example for us. Our lives cannot compare to this massive invasion of trauma and intense grief. Losing material things is one thing, but Job lost all of his 10 children at once; not just one, or some, or most, but all 10. How devastation is that!!! But the first thing Job did and the first thing out of his mouth is worth repeating: 20 At this, Job got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship 21 and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the Name of the LORD be praised.” 22 In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong.

Lord, give us the strength, hope, and faith that Job had in You. Like Job, may we hold fast to trust You and praise Your Name no matter what takes place in our lives. In Jesus Name.
